Putting God's Vision To Work Using Christian Business Principles

The Lord gave me this message "I knew you before I formed you in your mother's womb. Before you were born I set you apart and anointed you as my prophet to the nations' -Jeremiah 1:4-5

Are you happy?

I once posed a simple question to a gathering of 60 chief executive officers from a wide range of businesses: “Are you happy?” The response I received shocked me. Only half of the men in the room claimed to be truly happy. Knowing the group was made up of professing Christians, I pushed a little deeper and asked, “Do you understand God’s vision for you, and are you carrying it out?” This time, only a few more answered, “Yes.”

It struck me that something was terribly wrong if a group of Christian executives could not articulate God’s vision for their life and work. It seemed evident that these corporate leaders were going about their business in a very wrong way. A truth emerged in my mind: no matter your level of success, you will not be happy if you are not following God’s specific vision for your life.

Putting vision to work.

You may be asking yourself "What does vision mean in the context of operating under Christian business principles?" In one sentence: vision is a picture of the future that produces a godly passion in you. When you imagine your future in business and life in general, it should bring out a sense of energy, excitement, and zeal - you simply can't wait to see these dreams become a reality! This joy and enthusiasm is God's way of telling you you're on the right track. When this enthusiasm is gone, it may be a sign that you've taken a wrong turn. When we align ourselves with God's vision, and operate using Christian values - the reward is an adventurous and deeply fulfilling life. In addition to increasing happiness, it also provides a lens in which to see life in deeper and more meaningful ways

How do I know if I'm on the right path?

Once we acknowledge that God does have a plan for our lives, it's simply a matter of taking the time to listen. Recognize that God has more planned for us than just making a living and having a mediocre existence. He has the ability and desire to carry out a grander purpose through you! Once you've accepted that fact, it's simply a matter of transferring your will over to God. If your plans are aligned with God's vision doors will open, and opportunities will arise - God's way of showing us we've made the right choices. If the financial resources don't become available, simply wait. Either God needs time to put the pieces together, or He has something else in mind. You simply need to align yourself with God's will so he can turn you loose! "Delight yourself in the Lord; and He will give you the desires of your heart" -Psalms 37:4

How can I reach my goals using Christian business principles?

It is God's desire that you achieve success through Christian business principles, so people (employees, vendors, customers) come to know Him. God will show you daily through His word and through prayer how to make this happen. If you operate your company as your mission, run with Christian values at it's core; if you understand His vision for you; He will instruct you in ways the world will not understand. The Lord will go ahead of you and provide your financial source as well as your key people. Please don't live out your days and miss out on the vision God has for you!
